Acer platanoides Emerald Queen is a cultivar of the Norway Maple, Acer platanoides, which has a brighter green leaf and much more regularly shaped crown than its parent.
Like the species, this tree has discrete yellow flowers that appear in spring, and bright green leaves which turn golden yellow and sometimes red in the autumn.
Acer platanoides Emerald Queen is a stalwart performer, tolerating most soil types, air pollution and resists the perils of drought.
This large tree retains a dominant central leader as it grows and as such has a neat and regular crown shape. Being a uniform tree, it is a great selection for avenues and parklands and can be used in large gardens, however it can become as wide as it is tall and therefore needs plenty of space to mature.
