A native of Western Asia, this well known fruiting tree was introduced into the UK in the early 16th century.
It is remarkably resistant to pest and disease and can be grown for either its foliage or fruit as both add ornamental interest to a south facing garden.
It makes a small and elegant tree with a rounded habit that does best in a warm, sheltered position, producing its green fruits by early August.
Perfect for gardens or where space is restricted and often grown up against south facing walls to maximize fruiting potential.
