Prunus Umineko is a popular and reliable white flowering ornamental cherry tree.

This cherry tree has a utilitarian feel to it; its flowers are single and white, appearing in April with a flush of bright green foliage which turns flame red in the autumn time.

Prunus Umineko is a medium to large tree at maturity, producing a crown which is fairly upright when it is young, broadening to an upside down vase shape at maturity.

It is a cross between Prunus incisa and Prunus speciosa and won the Award of Merit in 1928. It is sometimes referred to as Snow Goose and those after this species should be comfortable with planting cherries labelled as Umineko instead.

Like most cherry trees this tree will thrive in all soils provided they are free draining.

This ornamental tree is vigorous and robust and will give a reliable performance year in year out. It has a lovely regular shape for a cherry tree and looks super planted as an avenue.
